The
avocados you'll be using should be ripe. Ripe avocados yield slightly when pressed with your fingers. If you have to press too hard, the avocados are not ripe yet. Read more about how to ripen an avocado at this link:
Ripening Avocados.
Directions:Cut each avocado in half, remove the big seed in the middle with a spoon. Then use the spoon to scoop the avocado into a mixing bowl and mash it with a fork.
Halve each lime and squeeze the lime juice over the avocado to soften it, and keep mashing it until you get the consistency that you prefer, whether chunky or creamy. The more you mash, the creamier and smoother your guacamole will become.
Crush and dice the garlic cloves, dice the green onion and dice the tomato. Add them to the mashed avocado and lime juice mixture, and stir them in. Take a taste and add more of any ingredient to your taste.
Once you have made your guacamole, you can refrigerate it in a covered container until you're ready to eat it. Tip: If you put the avocado seeds in the guacamole, the seeds will help to keep the guacamole from turning brown, however the seeds are not edible so you may want to remove them when serving.
Don't forget to have lots of tortilla chips handy!
